TECHNOLOGISTS’ SECTION Quantification of SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging

چکیده
Radionuclide myocardial perfusion imaging has been established as a noninvasive method for diagnosis of coronary artery disease. The assessment of myocardial perfusion imaging can be done by either qualitative or quantitative analyses. Through use of both types of analyses, clinically useful reproducible interpretation of myocardial perfusion images requires considerable operator experience. The reasons for problems with interpretation are many. In particular, the reproducibility of interpretation of myocardial perfusion images depends on (1) experience of the reader, (2) quality of the images, (3) severity of abnormality, (4) degree of change on serial images, and (5) uniform criteria for interpretation. It has been widely accepted that quantification of myocardial perfusion significantly improves diagnostic accuracy in detecting coronary artery disease. Furthermore, the concept of quantification of perfusion imaging includes two significant aspects that must be taken into account. The first is methodological, and the other is more related to the clinical application of the quantification process in nuclear cardiology.

Myocardial perfusion SPECT: Perfusion quantification
Different software tools for quantification of myocardial perfusion SPECT (MPS) studies are routinely used. Several perfusion parameters can be computed automatically. Interpretation of the MPS should start with visual inspection of the rotating planar images, visual analysis of reconstructed SPECT slices and then quantitative analysis to confirm the visual impression. Quantification should be...

متن کاملThe truncation artifact in a skinny patient following myocardial perfusion SPECT
Myocardial perfusion SPECT is one of the most common imaging techniques performed in nuclear medicine departments. To avoid misleading interpretation, it is necessary to address the quality control and technical problems. The truncation artifact occurs when the patient size is large relative to the field of view of the camera, causing false perfusion defects in the LV myocardium, misinterpreted...
متن کاملSemi-quantitative segmental perfusion scoring in myocardial perfusion SPECT: visual vs. automated analysis
Introduction: It is recommended that the physician apply at least a semi-quantitative segmental scoring system in myocardial perfusion SPECT. We aimed to assess the agreement between automated semi-quantitative analysis using QPS (quantitative Perfusion SPECT) software and visual approach for calculation of summed stress score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS) and summed difference score (SDS). ...
متن کاملCovid-19 manifestation on Tl-201 myocardial perfusion SPECT/CT
A 67 years old woman was referred to nuclear medicine center for myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) for assessment of ischemic heart dieses (IHD).She had a history of atypical chest pain and dyspnea since about 10 days before admission. The MPI SPECT/CT was performed by stress/redistribution Tl-201 protocol. MPI was interpreted as relatively good coronary flow with no appreciable stress induced...
